How to sharpen my Sovrantor knife?
- Sovrantor Damascus knives remain sharp for a particularly long time due to their different hard layers of steel and iron, but even the best knife will lose its sharpness one day. Depending on the stress on the blade, this can take between 1 to 10 weeks.
- We recommend resharpening with a water whetstone. Grinding stones with different grits are particularly recommended so that the so-called "basic sharpening" can be performed first followed by the "fine sharpening". For the basic sanding we recommend a grit size of 400-1000 and for the fine sanding a grit size of over 3000.
To the whetstone with 400 and 1000 grit
To the whetstone with 3000 and 8000 grit
When grinding, take into account the various cutting angles! The cutting angle is the angle on each side of the blade. Both cutting angles added together give the cutting burr. - Grind Abalone/Aquamarine/Ruby Line knives at a ~8° cutting angle.
Grind Aristocratic Line knives at a~15° cutting angle.
